Manik Sarkar has been the Chief minister of Tripura since 1998, A CPI-M politburo member, he is considered to be one of the most honest politicians in the country who has least personal assets of all the chief ministers in the country. Known to be an efficient administrator, the 68-year-old has been able to provide political stability in his state with good governance and a clean administration which work towards ameliorating the lot of poor people, especially tribals. As Chief minister, he donates his salary to his party and gets only Rs 5,000 per month as allowance.
