The first woman chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has been in power for the past six years in a state where the CPI-M was once considered almost invincible. But her outfit, Trinamool Congress stormed to power largely because of her charisma as a grassroots leader and instant connect with people. As an administrator, she has done a lot of work, especially in the health and agriculture sectors, as also for empowerment of women through various welfare schemes.
