Aruna Roy, recipient of Magsaysay Award, has spearheaded several campaigns for the rights of the poor and marginalised sections of society over the years. The 61-year-old co-founder of the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan resigned from the civil services many years ago to take up social work and became one of the most well-known activists behind the successful Right to Information campaign.
