Devi Prasad Shetty is a Bengaluru-based cardiac surgeon who has founded Narayana Health, a chain of hospitals across the country, to provide affordable treatment. His heart hospital in Bangalore, where at least 30 major surgeries are done in a day, is largest in the world with 1,000 beds. In 2009, the Wall Street Journal had called him as the Henry Ford of heart surgery because of his altruistic work in healthcare. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2012.
