Popularly known as the Metro Man, E Sreedharan is widely credited with having changed the face of public transport in India with Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro. A former Indian Engineering Service officer, the 85-year-old Padma Vibhushan was once hailed by Time magazine as one of Asia’s heroes.
